Nurturing Indian classical dance, one generation at a time
AdiShankara Academy of Performing Arts (ASAPA) trains dancers of all ages in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam through dedicated instruction, performances, workshops and festivals.
A home for Indian classical art in the GTA
Founded in 2003, AdiShankara Academy of Performing Arts (ASAPA) is a dance institution based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. We nourish Indian classical art forms through structured training, public performances, art-related workshops and festivals — welcoming students and art lovers of every age and background.
Our dancers regularly take the stage at community festivals and cultural centres across the region, carrying forward a living tradition while building confidence, discipline and artistry in every student.
Two classical traditions, one discipline
Every class balances technique, storytelling and devotion — the pillars of Indian classical dance.
Bharatanatyam
One of India's oldest classical dance forms, blending intricate footwork, expressive hand gestures (mudras) and storytelling drawn from Indian mythology and devotional literature.
Mohiniyattam
The graceful "dance of the enchantress" from Kerala — known for its gentle, swaying movements, lyrical expression and elegant costuming.
